Arrest following short western suburb pursuit, SA

Police have arrested a man following a brief pursuit in the western suburbs this morning, according to SA Police.

Just before 1am, Monday 16th October, patrols spotted a silver Holden Berlina travelling on Old Port Road at Albert Park. Checks revealed the car had been stolen from Alberton on Saturday morning.

The car turned onto Taplelys Hill Road, the patrol activated emergency lights in an attempt to stop the car, but it sped off and a short pursuit took place, before being terminated due to safety reasons.

The car was located a short time later dumped on Long Street at Queenstown, and patrols quickly set cordons in the area before police dog Ruger was called in to assist.

Ruger tracked a scent to nearby Queen Street, Alberton where a man was located and arrested. The 30-year-old man has been taken to hospital with minor injuries. He is expected to be charged with offences relating to the pursuit.

Police investigations are continuing into a second person who may have been in the vehicle. And also to a weapon that was located at the scene and has been seized by police.
