Arrests follow Coburg North police car ramming

A man has been arrested after a police car and three other vehicles were rammed in Coburg North this morning., Victoria Police say

Two police members were driving in a van through Peterson Avenue about 4.50am when they noticed an allegedly stolen vehicle.

As the police van pulled up, the allegedly stolen vehicle suddenly reversed into a car parked on the street.

The car then drove forwards into the police car, causing it minor damage.

The driver continued his spree of striking vehicles, reversing a third time and hitting two other parked cars before driving away.

The police members were not injured.

A short time later, another police vehicle came across a man and a woman in Rathcown Road, Reservoir.

The 25-year-old Doncaster man was identified as being linked to the Coburg North ramming.

Both he and the 25-year-old Hurstbridge woman were arrested.

The man was allegedly carrying a bag containing a large firearm.

The pair is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
