Arrests Made in Alice Springs Aggravated Robbery 5 September

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested two female youths in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday.

Around 6:15pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received a report of an aggravated robbery at a residence in East Side.

It is alleged the 77-year-old female occupant returned home and observed her residence had been unlawfully entered via a broken window. The offenders were still at the location and physically assaulted the victim, knocking her to the ground. They proceeded to steal her car keys and attempted to flee in her vehicle; however, she was able to remove the keys from the ignition.

The offenders fled the scene on foot in possession of stolen jewellery.

The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

Strike Force Viper, the Dog Operations Unit, and general duties members responded, and a crime scene was declared. A short time later, two female youths aged 11 and 14 were located nearby and arrested.

The 11-year-old was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

The 14-year-old was charged with Aggravated burglary, Aggravated robbery, and Damage to property, and is due to appear in court today.
