Arrests of 'hooning group' members – Gold Coast

Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrols have arrested two members of a local ‘hooning group’ as police continue to target the group’s activities.

As a result of information received, police executed a search warrant on two separate Gilston addresses where two men were taken into custody.

At one of the residences police allegedly located a large quantity of tyres suspected of being stolen from a break and enter at a tyre shop at Spencer Road at Nerang on April 23, 2018.

An 18-year-old man from Gilston was charged with enter premises alternative receive and stealing alternative receive stolen property.

At the other residence police located a collection of 14 knives which were seized by police.

An 18-year-old man from Gilston has been given a notice to appear for the offence of possession of Category M weapons.

Both men are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 24, 2018.

Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol said police will continue to focus to target the local hooning group and appealed for any member of the public with information about the group to contact police.
