Arrests – Operation MIKE SABIS

Police have charged over 140 people with drug and weapons offences following a three day operation carried out in the South West District last week, Queensland Police say.

As part of Operation MIKE SABIS, 131 search warrants were executed across the Dalby Burnett and Roma regions by police from the South West, Darling Downs and Brisbane.

The operation resulted in 148 people being charged with a total of 502 offences, including:

• 6 people charged with 9 counts of trafficking a dangerous drug;
• A total of 174 charges of supply dangers drug;
• A total seizure of ice in excess of 1.2 kilograms;
• A total seizure of cannabis in excess of 1.7 kilograms;
• Two clandestine drug laboratories were located;
• Nine firearms seized, including several home-made guns;
• An array of other weapons seized including Tasers, restricted edged weapons, knuckleduster, nunchaka and a laser device;
• A quantity of commercial explosive was also seized;
• And approximately $500,000 worth of heavy machinery believed to be stolen or proceeds of crime seized.

A 48-year-old Tara man was charged with 29 drug offences including trafficking and supply. He appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court on August 25.

A 28-year old Tara woman was charged with 14 drug offences including trafficking and supply and is due to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on September 20.

Operation MIKE SABIS was generated and co-ordinated by Dalby Criminal Investigation Branch, and further arrests are expected.
