ARTC's new CEO announced

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will be led by Mr Mark Campbell for the next five years following his appointment as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack welcomed the ARTC board's decision to appoint Mr Campbell.

"We look forward to working closely with Mr Campbell and continuing a strong professional relationship with the ARTC board and management as we deliver the 1,700-kilometre Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail and improve and maintain some 8,500 kilometres of rail," Mr McCormack said.

"The rail network connects Australians and delivers products and produce across the country, providing a fast, efficient freight alternative while alleviating congestion on our roads, reduce transport costs and improve overall road safety for everyone.

"I want to thank outgoing CEO and Managing Director John Fullerton for his leadership of ARTC since 2011, where he has worked diligently in the national interest to deliver significant Australian Government investment in rail projects and initiatives."

Finance Minister Mathias Cormann also thanked Mr Fullerton for his significant and long-term impact on the ARTC, including in its delivery of Inland Rail.

"Through outstanding service and leadership of the ARTC, John has left an indelible mark on not only the ARTC but Australia's rail industry," Minister Cormann said.

"During John's tenure, the ARTC made significant improvements to the efficiency and competitiveness of Australia's interstate rail network.

"The ARTC also commenced delivery of Inland Rail under John's leadership. Inland Rail will be the spine of Australia's freight network, supporting 16,000 jobs during construction and providing a $16 billion boost to our national economy over the long term."
