Passionate and enthusiastic artists keen to create new projects co-designed with kids, for kids, are being sought to participate in the ArtPlay 2021 New Ideas Lab.
Supporting proposals between $10,000 and $20,000, the ArtPlay New Ideas Lab brings together creatives and children to co-create projects appealing to children from babies to 13 year olds.
ArtPlay encourages artists from all disciplines, all abilities and all cultural backgrounds to apply.
Short-listed applicants will be given the opportunity to pitch their ideas straight to a panel of children, artists and ArtPlay staff who will assess the idea.
Former New Ideas Lab artist Brendan Ternus said ArtPlay was an incredibly supportive environment to help him realise his project.
"The New Ideas Lab supports your process from inception of an idea all the way through to execution and, if you aren't an established artist, the team can connect you with a mentor to help grow your ideas," Brendan said.
"All the New Ideas Lab projects are very different but everyone is on the same page about the value of collaboration with kids and bringing their voices to the fore.
"ArtPlay also helps New Ideas Lab projects find new audiences after the program is over through a showcase that connects you with industry leaders. So it's the gift that keeps on giving."
Expressions of interest are now open for the 2021 New Ideas Lab.
Proposals will be assessed on:
- Is the project a brand new work seeded with ArtPlay?
- How does the project actively engage with children as co-creators?
- Does the project feature environmentally sustainable practices?
- Is the concept well-articulated?
- Is the project original, with high-quality potential for future presentation?
- Does it have a feasible budget?
