Arundel police beat at Gold Coast

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has been made aware of unfounded community concerns in relation to the Arundel Police Beat permanently closing down.

The QPS has no plans to permanently close the dedicated police beat at Arundel.

The Arundel Police Beat has been temporarily closed since June due to the ill-health of its two stationed officers.

In the interim, any routine calls for service are responded to by officers from the Central Patrol Group, which is what normally occurs outside the Arundel Police Beat's operational hours of 8am-12pm.

Further, any urgent call for service is responded to by the closest available resource from across the Gold Coast District, which is standard policing procedure.

The Central Patrol Group's police officers are mobile and proactively perform intelligence-driven and high visibility patrols throughout their divisions, including Arundel and surrounding suburbs.

The Queensland Police Service is committed to keeping the people of the Gold Coast safe and will always ensure a strong police presence in the Arundel area.

Fully functional police stations are established nearby at Runaway Bay and Southport, as well as the Arundel policing hub. Additional Police Beats also operate at Southport and Pacific Pines shopping precincts.

Modern day policing is about having agility in service delivery. With the advent of technology, the focus is on having officers mobile on our streets and ready to respond at all times.
