Ashurst Guides GLA on Royal Albert Dock Revamp

Global law firm Ashurst is advising Greater London Authority (GLA) on the high-profile procurement process for the regeneration of Royal Albert Dock, one of London's most significant and ambitious development opportunities.

The GLA, through its land and property arm GLAP, has launched a formal search for a master developer to lead the redevelopment of the 12-hectare Royal Albert Dock site, located in the Royal Docks, Newham. The project, which forms part of the Mayor of London's largest regeneration initiative, is set to deliver a vibrant, mixed-use waterside neighbourhood, providing new homes, jobs, education, leisure, and community facilities. With an anticipated gross development value of approximately £3 billion, the scheme will play a pivotal role in the ongoing economic and social transformation of East London.

Commenting, partner Henry Moss said, "We are proud to support the GLA on this landmark regeneration. The Royal Albert Dock project is a unique opportunity for London, and our team is pleased to help deliver a robust procurement process to ensure its long-term success."

Ashurst's team is being led by real estate partner Henry Moss, with support from planning partner Trevor Goode, senior associates Aoife Devlin and Alice Rowlands, and associate Lauren Cole. Partner Edward McNeil assisted from the competition team.

Montagu Evans is advising on the procurement as part of its wider advisory role across the Royal Docks area, working with Dan Bridge, Paul Creed, Andy McVitty and James Halsall from the Royal Docks team, Adwoa Owusu-Banahene at LLDC and Claire Mason at TfL.
