Assistant Commissioner to visit Police Citizens Youth Clubs in regional NSW

NSW Police Force Assistant Commissioner for Capability, Performance and Youth Command, Joe Cassar, will visit Police Citizens Youth Clubs on the state’s north and Hunter regions next week, NSW Police say.

The four-day tour will include visits at Port Stephens, Raymond Terrace, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Armidale, Tamworth, Muswellbrook and Singleton from Monday 23 October 2017 until Thursday 26 October 2017.

Assistant Commissioner Cassar will be involved with discussions on programs implemented by PCYC and the impact it is having in the community.

Assistant Commissioner Cassar said the work helps build positive relationships between NSW Police and young people across the state.

"It is great to see the positive influence these PCYC programs are having in the lives of young people," he said.

"Building a relationship between youth and police is important, particularly in an empowering and supportive environment.

"The work at PCYC complements the Youth Liaison Officers, supported by Specialist Youth Officers in each local area command, that work to reduce juvenile crime.

"This collaborative approach aims to prevent young people from falling victim to crime, prevent youth from offending and to reduce anti-social behaviour."
