The Canadian Coast Guard's Inshore Rescue Boat stations in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador are winding down their seasonal maritime search and rescue service. The following stations will close at 11:59 p.m. (local time) on Monday, September 7:
- Saint John, NB
- Shediac, NB
- Charlottetown, PEI
- Halifax, NS
- Mahone Bay, NS
- Pictou, NS
- Conception Bay (in Conception Bay South), NL
- Bonavista Bay (in Terra Nova National Park), NL
- Notre Dame Bay (in Lewisporte), NL
The Inshore Rescue Boat program employs and trains post-secondary students across Canada to provide additional maritime search and rescue services during the busy summer season.
The Canadian Coast Guard's Search and Rescue seasonal stations across Atlantic Canada will remain in service until December 31 (dependent on weather and ice), while our year-round stations will remain open. Highly trained Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers and their vessels also remain available to help boaters in distress.
Any marine emergency can be reported to the Canadian Coast Guard at all times at 1‑800‑463‑4393 or through channel 16 on VHF radios.
