Attempt murder charges after domestic-related stabbing in Whalan

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a domestic-related stabbing in Sydney’s west last week, NSW Police say.

Emergency services attended a home on Kavieng Avenue at Whalan, about 8am on Friday (3 August 2018), after reports of a stabbing.

When officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command arrived, they found two men – aged 40 and 52 – suffering stab wounds.

The older man also ingested a chemical.

They were both taken to Westmead Hospital where the older man remains in a critical condition and younger man remains in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, the 52-year-old man was charged with attempted murder (DV) yesterday (Monday 6 August 2018).

The matter was mentioned at Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Monday 6 August 2018) in the man’s absence and he was refused bail. The matter will return to the same court tomorrow (Wednesday 8 August 2018).

North West Metropolitan Region critical incident team are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
