Attempted Armed Robbery in Helensvale Under Investigation

Gold Coast police have charged a 19-year-old man over an alleged attempted armed robbery at Helensvale yesterday, April 1.

Emergency services were called to a railway station just after 4.30pm following reports a man had threatened three boys with a knife.

It will be alleged the man approached the teenagers, aged 14, 14 and 12-years-old, and demanded a number of personal items.

The trio immediately left the scene and called Triple 0.

Upon arrival, police took the 19-year-old Southport man in custody.

He has been charged with three counts of attempted armed robbery and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, April 2.
