Attempted armed robbery in North Rockhampton, QLD

A man has been taken into custody following an alleged attempted armed robbery that occurred this morning at a service station in North Rockhampton, Queensland Police say.

Police were called to a service station on Dean Street shortly before 6am following reports that a man entered the service station allegedly armed with a knife.

It will be further alleged that he made demands for cash, and when the attendant did not comply, he fled the scene on foot.

Responding officers then observed a man at an address on Waterloo Street and when they have approached him, it will be alleged he armed himself with a shovel before threatening officers and swinging it at police, striking one officer.

Officers deployed a taser and the man was taken into custody without any further incident.

He has been transported to the Rockhampton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No one else was injured as a result of the robbery.

Investigations are continuing.
