Attempted carjacking at Hoppers Crossing train station

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following an attempted carjacking in Hoppers Crossing this morning, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a man parked his red Camry sedan at the railway station car park on Morris Road just after 6.30am.

He was approached by an unknown man armed with a knife, who made demands for his car.

The victim did not hand over his car and received a slash wound to the leg.

The offender ran from the scene.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, 170cm tall with a thin build and was wearing a black hooded jumper and had small trolley.

The victim, a 33-year-old Glenroy man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and believe the offender had spoken to commuters in the car park prior to the incident.

Detectives are keen to speak to any witnesses and any commuters in the area at the time.
