Attempted carjacking in Miepoll

Mitchell Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following an attempted carjacking in Miepoll on 14 March, Victoria Police say.

A 32-year-old Strathbogie man was driving along Shepparton-Euroa Road towards Shepparton when he came across a wooden pallet lying on the road about 3.40pm.

The man stopped the car and got out to move the pallet when he saw another man run towards the vehicle and try to get into the driver’s seat.

The victim ran back to his car, where an altercation took place with the man.

He managed to wrestle the man from the car and got back in before slamming the door closed.

The man’s hand was jammed temporarily before the victim drove away.

The offender was seen running towards a burgundy hatchback, which had been parked a few hundred metres away.

Investigators have released a composite image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived as Caucasian, about 175cm tall and aged in his 40s with a medium build, tanned complexion, large ear lobes and grey hair.

The man was wearing a red and blue checked flannel shirt and jeans at the time.

Police wish to speak to anyone who saw a car travelling between Hanneberrys Road and Geodetic Road at the time or who may have dash cam footage.

Anyone with information or who may recognise the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
