Attempted murder charge at Innisfail

Innisfail detectives have charged a man with attempted murder (domestic violence offence) in relation to an alleged stabbing in Innisfail overnight.

At approximately 11pm (November 12) a 32-year-old man attended the Innisfail Police Station with a wound to his hand.

Police transported the man to Innisfail Hospital for treatment.

Following investigations, police attended a local address where they declared a crime scene just before midnight.

A short time later, a 23-year-old woman was located at a different property in a nearby street with multiple wounds to her upper body.

She was transported to Innisfail Hospital but was later flown to Townsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police will allege a man and woman were involved in an altercation during which time the woman sustained stab wounds before she managed to flee from the property.

The 32-year-old man is expected to appear at Innisfail Magistrates Court tomorrow (November 14).

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic and family violence, you should report it to police.
