Attempted Robbery At Mackay

Police have charged a man following an incident in Mackay this afternoon, 18 September.

Around 4.30pm, officers were called to a shopping centre on Mangrove Road, following reports a man, possibly armed with a weapon, had threatened a male staff member.

The staff member, a 24-year-old man, was not physically injured.

A 28-year-old man was located by police less than 10 minutes later and taken into custody.

It will be alleged the man was carrying a cap gun.

He has been charged with three counts of going armed so as to cause fear and one count of attempted robbery - use/threaten violence armed/pretends to be.

The man is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow, 19 September.
