Attempted robbery charge at South Brisbane, QLD

Police have charged a boy following an alleged attempted robbery at South Brisbane early this morning, Queensland Police say.

At about 12.30am, it is alleged the boy approached a man walking along Vulture Street and demanded money.

When the man refused, it is alleged the boy struck the man over the head with a dinner plate and kicked and punched the man when he fell to the ground.

It is further alleged the boy fled the scene on foot with a group of associates towards Appel Street without obtaining any cash or property from the man.

The man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment of injuries to his head, face and knee.

Investigations led police to an Appel Street address where a 17-year-old Inala boy was arrested in relation to the matter.

The boy is charged with one count each of attempted robbery with violence, receiving tainted property and obstruct police.
