Attempted robbery charges at Townsville

Police have charged a man with attempted armed robbery after he allegedly threatened two people in Rasmussen this afternoon.

It will be alleged at 12.37pm a man attended the Santal Drive house and threatened the residents with a large kitchen knife, demanding keys to the car.

The residents where able to lock the security door however the man entered the house through the garage door. The residents called 000 and the man fled the scene.

Police located the man a short distance away.

The 18-year-old Cloncurry man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling whilst armed, attempted armed robbery with violence, attempt to enter dwelling whilst armed and possession of a knife in a public place.

He will appear before the Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow, June 22.

The residents, a man and woman, are not known to the man and were not physically injured during the incident.
