Attempted robbery in Redbank Plains, QLD

Ipswich Detectives are investigating following an attempted robbery in Redbank Plains this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary investigations indicate at around 1:45pm a woman was walking along Redbank Plains Road, between Highbury Drive and Jansen Street when three men approached her, demanding money and cigarettes.

When the woman refused and attempted to leave two of the men assaulted her, striking her in the head and pulling her hair.

The woman was able to fight the men off, who then fled the scene on foot empty handed.

The 52-year-old woman was later transported to Ipswich General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The three men are described as being African in appearance, of a dark complexion with slim builds and wearing shorts and light coloured singlets.

Investigations are continuing.
