Attempted unlawful use in Upper Mount Gravatt, QLD

Police investigating an attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle in Upper Mount Gravatt shopping centre on Wednesday, November 7 have released vision of a man who may be assist with their inquires, Queensland Police say.

Around 1.43pm, a woman was attempting to start her car when she was approached by a man who attempted to steal it.

The woman was about to place her child in rear seat of the black C200 Series Mercedes after turning the sedan on when the man approached the vehicle.

The man opened the front door of the vehicle before sitting in the front seat and putting it into drive.

The woman was able to stop the man before alerting a member of the public nearby.

As a result the man fled on foot towards the busway.

No one was physically injured as a result.

Police are appealing for anyone that may know the man (pictured) or witnessed the incident to contact them.

Investigations are continuing.
