A new round of funding aimed at attracting large-scale events and driving increased visitation to Tasmania has now opened.
The Tasmanian Government announced the $5 million Event Attraction Fund as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.
Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan, said the fund was designed to attract even more events and visitors to Tasmania's shores.
"We know how critical events are in delivering economic benefits to the State, particularly during the shoulder season and winter months," Minister Duigan said.
"In addition to support for local event organisers, this fund is available to those wanting to bring out-of-state events to Tasmania.
"We have a vibrant events scene that we are supporting to continue to grow, with this funding set to lure increasing numbers of visitors to our cities and towns."
To be eligible for funding event organisers must demonstrate that more than 400 participants will travel to Tasmania for the event.
"Events play a pivotal role in driving Tasmania's tourism and hospitality sector, drawing visitors and showcasing our unique culture," Minister Duigan said.
"They deliver strong levels of interstate visitation and substantially boost regional economies.
"They also serve as important community connectors for locals to socialise and enjoy what's on offer across our state."
The Event Attraction Fund provides grants of up to $750,000.
Funding to showcase a mass participation event in Tasmania during 2025, 2026 and 2027 is available. Increased funding is available for events held in our regions to encourage statewide dispersal of events.
The grants close on May 31, unless exhausted earlier.
