Cricket Victoria is proud to announce Kiewa Cricket Club's Brent DeVries as the Kookaburra Volunteer of the Month for August, recognising his dedication, commitment and leadership.
Brent has been the heartbeat of the Kiewa Cricket Club for 17 years, embodying the spirit of community, care and dedication. Known for his strong values, kindness and genuine commitment to others, Brent has left a lasting mark on every part of the club.
Currently serving as Director of Junior Cricket and Junior Co-ordinator, Brent plays a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of cricketers. He also sits on the Club Wellness Team; a small but vital group focused on supporting the mental health and wellbeing of members, where his compassion has already made a tangible difference to those going through tough times.
Brent's impact extends well beyond junior cricket. Since its inception two years ago, he has been the coach and umpire of the club's Women's team, providing constant encouragement and helping grow the female cricket program. He also leads the Social Events Team, organising functions that strengthen bonds across the club community.
On top of this, Brent has coached both the U14s and U16s, guiding them to premiership success, and made history as the youngest-ever captain of Kiewa's A Grade side.
Respected across all ages, Brent is admired for his sportsmanship, leadership, and unwavering generosity. He continues to set an example for younger players through his manners, respect and tireless work ethic. While his on-field achievements as an A Grade cricketer are impressive, it is his selfless contribution off the field that truly sets him apart.
As part of this recognition, Brent will receive a $200 Kookaburra Voucher for Kiewa Cricket Club.
