Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has been fined $250 for not wearing a lifejacket while moving a dinghy on the waters near his Sydney waterfront mansion.
Sydney paparazzi snapped photos showing him in the boat wearing a red shirt but no lifejacket.
NSW Roads and Maritime Services said "A $250 fine will apply to the Prime Minister who was not wearing a life jacket when moving his dinghy a short distance earlier this week."
Angus Mitchell, executive director of NSW Services, said that the PM will have to pay a fine, calling this incident a 'timely reminder' to boaters to wear their life jackets, ABC News reports.
Mr Turnbull apologised on a Facebook post, saying water safety was important at this time of year and NSW Maritime had explained "technical" rules to him.
Mr Turnbull's luxury four-storey harbourside mansion in Sydney's affluent suburb Point Piper is worth over $50 million.

A property property next door to Mr Turnbull was sold to luxury car importer Neville Crichton for $45 million early December.
