A Canberra man is overjoyed after winning $2.5 million from his very first lottery ticket purchase, transforming his weekend into one of the best days of his life.
The ACT resident held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4469 on Saturday 18 May 2024. Each division one winning entry scored a $2.5 million slice of the $10 million lotto bonanza.
“This is one of the best days of my life!” the winning man exclaimed when speaking to a lotto official.
“I just bought this ticket on the spur of the moment. I’ve never bought a lottery ticket before.
“Then, on Sunday morning, I woke up and saw I had this ticket in my wallet, so I thought I’d check it.
“Oh sh**! I can’t explain the moment. I just can’t believe it.
“My first priority is to buy a house. I’m going to start searching for my first house now. I don’t need to worry about interest rates!
“Thank you! Thank you! This is just incredible!”
The man’s winning entry was purchased at Metro Mitchell, 2 Callan Street, Mitchell.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4469 on 18 May 2024 were 20, 32, 9, 43, 13 and 26, while the supplementary numbers were 14 and 34.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4469 – two in Western Australia and one each in the ACT and Victoria.
