Australia Day Award nominations now open 2 October

Nominations are now open for the 2024 Australia Day Awards.

The awards celebrate achievements and contributions individuals and community groups have made to the community. Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, District Achiever of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Community Event or Project of the Year.

Chair of the Australia Day Advisory Committee, Cr Bernie Hearn said we all know someone who has made life in Benalla Rural City better in some way, by giving their time and expertise for the good of our community.

"I encourage you to give some thought to the people around you, friends, workmates, students, maybe someone at your local sports club or the club itself, community events or projects," Cr Hearn said.

"Nominate them and acknowledge the great work they do helping the community.

This is a way of saying 'thank you' to those who give their time and effort to help make Benalla Rural City a great place to live.

The Awards are something positive to look forward to and celebrate the achievements of our community. On Australia Day we will celebrate not only the winners but all nominees."

Nominations close Friday 1 December 2023. Guidelines and the online nomination form is available from www.benalla.vic.gov.au or upon request at Council's Customer Service Centre.
