Australia Day Awards nominations now open

Each community has the chance to nominate community members and organisations that deserve recognition for their efforts throughout the year.

The awards include:

  • Citizen of the Year (over 25 years at 26/01/22)
  • Senior Citizen of the Year (over 65 years at 26/01/22)
  • Community Organisation of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year - (under 25 years at 26/01/22)
  • Junior Citizen of the Year (under 15 years at 26/01/22).
  • Community Event of the Year

All nominations are submitted to the Tourism, Arts and Culture team at Strathbogie Shire for collation.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said the awards were a great way to recognise community members and groups for their dedication.

"Australia Day is about acknowledging and celebrating the contribution that every Australian makes to our nation," Cr Raeburn said.

The winners will be announced at next year's Australia Day eventswhich will be dependant on restrictions surrounding COVID-19.

Nominations open on September 20, 2021 and close on November 1, 2021.
