Australia Extends Winter Paralympic Medal Streak

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Australia's Paralympians have continued their remarkable record at the Winter Paralympic Games, with the team's performance in Milano Cortina, meaning Australia has won a medal at every Games since 1992.

Ben Tudhope won a silver and bronze medal in the Men's Snowboard Cross and the Men's Banked Slalom SB-LL2 events, respectively.

Australia delivered strong performances across the Games, with 10, top-10 finishes across the Paralympics, including the two medal performances.

The team's performance follows the Albanese Government's record investment in Para sport, including a doubling of funding to $54.9 million through the Para Uplift, which is removing systemic and structural performance barriers for Paralympic athletes.

Milano Cortina athletes and coaches also benefitted from an additional $2 million to help ensure the team's high-performance, operational and medical needs are met, enabling athletes perform at their best when it matters most.

Since the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, the Government has invested $37.5 million in high performance winter programs through the Australian Sports Commission, with an additional $3.3 million to directly support athletes through dAIS.
