Australian Co-Chair of the Multinational Observer Group for Fiji's 2018 Election

Today I announce Australia's observer team to join the Multinational Observer Group to Fiji's 2018 national elections. Australia was invited by the Fiji Government to serve as co-lead of the Multinational Observer Group alongside India and Indonesia. The Australian team will be led by the Hon Jane Prentice MP.

Mrs Prentice is an experienced former Minister, with a strong history of supporting democracy internationally, including in the Pacific, and she is Chair of the Australia-Pacific Parliamentary Network. Mrs Prentice looks forward to working alongside her Indian and Indonesian co-chairs.

Mrs Prentice will be joined on the observer group by other Australian parliamentarians and former senior diplomats with experience in the region. These observers join a number of Australian officials already deployed to Suva to support the Multinational Observer Group Secretariat.

Australia welcomes next Wednesday's elections and wishes the Multinational Observer Group all the best in conducting its work.
