Australian foreign minister to visit Brunei Darussalam

I will visit Brunei Darussalam from 18 to 19 February to hold talks with the Government of Brunei about bilateral and regional issues.

Australia and Brunei have a warm, longstanding relationship with a history of cooperation on defence, trade, and education. My visit will be a useful opportunity to engage Brunei's leadership on our shared interests in a stable and prosperous region ahead of Brunei's year as ASEAN Chair in 2021.

I will meet His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei and Ministers responsible for foreign affairs, finance and the economy. I also look forward to meeting prominent women leaders during the visit and laying a wreath to remember Australian service personnel who served in Brunei, including during the liberation of Borneo in World War II.
