Australian retailers Association announces new collaboration with Google

The Executive Director of the Australian Retailers Association, Russell Zimmerman, today announced a new strategic collaboration between the ARA and Google, welcoming the opportunity to help retailers excel.

Mr Zimmerman said a more direct relationship between the ARA and Google would allow the ARA to better support retailers to use digital tools and platforms which support their growth ambitions.

Research shows that 84 percent of consumer purchases now include online research[1]. The ARA will work with Google on events that help retailers understand how technology is changing shopping experiences, gain insights into these changes, and learn how to effectively engage their customers before they make a transaction.

"Google supports the industry with leading insights, offerings, and technological innovation to help Australian retailers in an environment where the role of e-Commerce is becoming more ensconced," Mr Zimmerman said.

Renee Gamble, Industry Director for Retail, Technology and Telecommunications at Google said: "Google is committed to helping retailers understand how consumers are interacting online - and we're playing a key role in improving shopper experiences through product innovations in search, mobile, augmented reality and voice. We are thrilled to be partnering with the ARA to help Australian retailers compete and thrive in an increasingly digital world."

"We are planning a series of events with Google to help Australian retailers compete and succeed online," Mr Zimmerman said.

"The ARA looks forward to working more closely with Google to find new ways to support our members in a dynamic retail environment," Mr Zimmerman concluded.
