Australia's Biggest Ever Mountain Bike Festival Comes To Town

Eurobodallans, get ready! Batemans Bay's Hanging Rock Sports Precinct is about to be taken over by something big, different and exciting.

The Sea Otter Australia Festival is coming to town from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 October. It's a massive cycling celebration bringing thousands of bike lovers from across the nation.

There will be different types of racing across Mogo Trails, kids' activities, an industry expo, live entertainment, and plenty of action on (and off) the trails.

Council's events team has spent the last 18 months working closely with Sea Otter organisers to make sure the precinct is ready, the setup is safe, and the event runs well for locals and visitors alike.

Council's events coordinator Scott McNairn said the festival setup includes temporary infrastructure such as a pump track near the sailing club, bike jumps, stages, and marquees.

"The main cricket field will be transformed into the event hub - it's where you'll see the expo, stage, and plenty of festival activity happening throughout the weekend," Mr McNairn said.

"Sea Otter's a sporting event at heart - just with more bikes than balls. It's a great way to bring fresh energy to our precinct and keep building those connections across local sport.

"We've worked closely with the Batemans Bay Cricket Club and really appreciate their support and flexibility, especially as they kick off their season this weekend."

Mr McNairn advised boat ramp users to keep in mind, the area will be busy during Sea Otter.

"Access to the Hanging Rock boat ramp will remain open, but please allow extra time to launch and retrieve your boats – there will be more traffic and people about than usual."

Everyone's welcome to come along and see what's happening at Hanging Rock during Sea Otter.

"It's something different for locals to experience, whether you ride or just want to check it out," Mr McNairn said.

"It's also a great boost for local businesses and the wider economy while the event is here."

Volunteer opportunities are still available. Local clubs and community groups can get involved too, earning some cash for their club.
