Backing community recovery with Trafalgar CBD upgrade

Liberal Party Victoria

Trafalgar residents, shoppers and visitors will enjoy an enhanced local shopping experience under a commitment announced today by the Liberals and Nationals.

Local shopping strips and small businesses have been hard hit by two years of disruption under the Andrews Labor Government, which has refused to provide the level of support needed to get small businesses in Victoria moving again.

That's why a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will invest $200,000 to upgrade the Trafalgar CBD with modern amenities.

This commitment is part of the Liberals and Nationals' $30 million Local Shopping Strip Recovery Plan, which will provide real solutions to support local communities across the state.

Shadow Minister for Small Business, David Southwick, said this commitment is a perfect example of how investing in our suburban infrastructure truly delivers for the local community.

"For Victoria to be number one again, the first step is to give local traders positive and practical support so they can stay open and grow their business."

"Only the Liberals and Nationals have a plan to give small businesses across the state the confidence and certainty they need."

Liberal Candidate for Narracan, Wayne Farnnham, said investing in our local shopping strips is vital to support the communities that rely on them.

"Trafalgar is growing rapidly and it's so important we encourage residents to stay and shop local, as well as support local traders in our community after two years of lockdowns."

"I'm proud to be part of a Liberals and Nationals team that's focused on backing local communities and providing real solutions."

The Nationals Candidate for Narracan, Shaun Gilchrist, said this commitment would go a long way in supporting local traders and residents.

"Only the Liberals and Nationals can guarantee 25 per cent of new infrastructure spending in regional Victoria."

"This investment is part of that and will be a shot-in-the-arm for the Trafalgar community, setting this much-loved shopping strip up for a better future."
