Backing Our Inspirational Community Groups

Kingston is continuing to back the inspiring work being done by our local community groups through our grants program.

As we move into the new financial year, over $1.3 million was committed in year 2 of operational and partnership funding for 116 organisations. This included support for emergency relief organisations, senior and multicultural groups, community arts, events and festivals.

Another 26 groups are sharing in a further $118,000 through Round 1 of our Community Bi-annual Grants.

Mayor Georgina Oxley said the grants program played a vital role in supporting grassroots initiatives and empowering locals.

"Our community groups are at the heart of what makes Kingston such a fantastic place to live, work and play," Cr Oxley said.

"We're incredibly proud to support their efforts through our grants program – helping them bring new ideas to life, respond to community needs, and build stronger, more connected neighbourhoods.

"In these challenging times, we've seen so many groups step up to meet the needs of our residents – whether it's supporting mental health and wellbeing, creating inclusive spaces, delivering local events or providing essential services. This program is about recognising and backing that work."

Cr Oxley said the grants were an important way for Council to invest in the community's own ideas and aspirations.

"Our local groups and clubs have a deep understanding of the people they serve – they know what works, where support is needed, and how to create real impact. With even modest funding, they're able to do remarkable things.

"We know many of our community groups rely on volunteer hours and limited budgets, so we're proud to help them keep doing what they do best – supporting people, strengthening neighbourhoods and helping Kingston thrive."
