Bayside City Council Unveils Inclusion and Sustainability Parking Strategy

Bayside's new Parking Strategy will guide how we balance our community's parking needs and support sustainable travel and the local economy over the next ten years.

The Parking Strategy will manage parking as a finite resource, protect the environment by supporting a shift to sustainable travel, and facilitate access to parking for those who need it most, such as community members with a disability.

We'll aim to maximise of use of available parking spaces through more efficient operations delivered through improved parking signage, enforcement and smart technology, as well as encourage more charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) across Bayside.

With a growing population, we'll also be working to ensure that new developments provide appropriate levels of parking, and consider other modes of travel including access to EV charging stations.

A review of the location and design of disability parking spaces is a year one priority action, driven by community feedback and support, including from Council's Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee and Bayside Healthy Ageing Reference Group.

The Bayside Parking Strategy was adopted by Council in June 2023.
