Bayside Pickleball Tournament Success

Bayside's inaugural Summer Showdown Pickleball Tournament was a huge success, providing many unforgettable moments over two full days of competition.

The tournament, hosted by the Arncliffe Youth Centre on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January, saw players compete in 12 events, including men's and women's singles, gender doubles, and mixed doubles.

The sold-out tournament attracted 155 registered players, plus a long waitlist eager to join the action.

The diversity of the field added to the excitement. Competitors ranged from 12 to 81 years old, including visiting players from Canada, Vietnam and Singapore.

The Courts were buzzing with tight matches, spirited rallies, and friendly rivalry that kept spectators engaged from the first serve to the final point.

A huge congratulations to every player who stepped onto the court, from first timers to seasoned competitors. Your skill, sportsmanship, and energy helped make this inaugural event memorable.

Regular players from the Arncliffe Youth Centre brought home 6 gold medals, 3 silver and 1 bronze.

The success of this event has all but guaranteed the Bayside Summer Showdown Pickleball Tournament will return in January next year.
