Be patient at NT border stop, South Australia

South Australia Police have established a border checking station at Marla in the far north of the state to process arrivals from the Northern Territory.

There are currently large delays with a line up approximately two kilometres long as vehicles approach the checking station.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution and prioritise safety when approaching Marla by activating hazard lights and if you exit your vehicle please be careful.

To assist South Australia Police in processing arrivals please ensure you have completed the online Cross Border form which is available at www.police.sa.gov.au/online-services/cross-border-travel-application

Have your Approved Traveller Number and a form of identification immediately available to show Police as you arrive at the checkpoint.

Travellers are asked to ensure they are aware of current requirement for people entering South Australia from the Northern Territory. People who have been in a Local Government Area north of Central Desert and Barkly (excluding the East Arnhem LGA) are prohibited from entry, unless they are an Essential Traveller or Permitted Arrival (returning South Australian Resident, someone permanently relocating to South Australia or escaping Domestic Violence).
