Be prepared and stay safe during hot weather conditions

It is vital Tasmanians remain vigilant, be aware of local weather and fire conditions and follow advice from the Tasmania Fire Service.

Conditions in the North-East today are forecast to be hot and when high fire danger occurs, it is important people know what to do if a fire threatens their home or property.

Residents are encouraged to visit the TFS website to view the Community Bushfire Protection Plans for their area, to assist with this planning. These are developed to provide assistance in the event of an emergency and will inform residents of nearby safe places, evacuation routes and how to receive emergency information. It also includes information to assist in preparing individual emergency plans prior to a fire occurring.

Our hardworking career and volunteer firefighters have been doing an incredible job in extremely hot and difficult conditions to protect life and property.

I know the community would join me in thanking them for the courageous work they do to keep Tasmanians safe.
