The roadto Beach Volleyball glory at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018)has become clearer for 24 competing nations and thousands of ticket holders,following the release of the official match schedule for the preliminary roundsof the competition.

The match schedule, sanctioned by the International Volleyball Federation(FIVB), reveals the draw for the 36 match preliminary stage of the men’s andwomen’s competitions from 6-9 April before the quarter final stage commences on10 April.

The Australian men’s and women’s teams will both open their accounts on day oneof competition, with the Australian women taking on Cyprus in the afternoonsession and the Australian men facing Fiji in the final match of the eveningsession.

Top ranked women’s nation Canada will play Fiji in their opening clash on dayone, while the top ranked Canadian men will take on Sierra Leone in the afternoonsession on day one.

Each nation will play three matches during the preliminary stage of thecompetition, with the two highest-ranked teams from each pool and the two bestthird-ranked teams from all pools advancing to the quarter final phase.

Tickets for the first ever Beach Volleyball competition to be heldat a Commonwealth Games have already been exhausted, with more than 60,000tickets sold overall.
