Gunnedah Shire Council

Highly anticipated film, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, will debut in Gunnedah on its official release date - Thursday, 11 September.

Gunnedah Shire Council's Cultural Precinct Team Leader Danny Hankinson has been working hard behind the scenes to bring films to The Civic Theatre in line with national release dates.

"It's fantastic that locals can see the film on the same day as so many others across the country," Mr Hankinson said.

"The popular historical drama is sure to draw Downton lovers to the cinema, so it's time to make plans with family and friends to see the final instalment in the long-running series."

The cinematic return of the global phenomenon follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter the 1930s. As the beloved cast of characters navigates how to lead Downton Abbey into the future, they must embrace change and welcome a new chapter.

The final chapter of the Crawley family saga will screen on Thursday, 11 September at 10am and 7pm. There will also be a number of screenings over the weekend, including 11am and 7pm on Saturday, and 1:30pm and 7pm on Sunday.
