Berejiklian must not move on Willow Grove under cover of Covid

CFMEU NSW

Reports of work being carried out at Willow Grove under the cover of Covid lockdowns would constitute a betrayal of the Parramatta community and a remarkable act of hubris by the Berejiklian government.

"The people of Parramatta want Gladys Berejiklian to listen to their wishes and preserve this unique piece of local cultural heritage, instead it appears she is preparing to send in the wrecking crew under the cover of covid," said Darren Greenfield, CFMEU NSW Construction Secretary.

"You would think the State Government and Infrastructure NSW have more than enough on their plates dealing with the covid crisis and its impact on the community without kicking off a fight over Willow Grove."

"The construction industry has been working with the government to get the industry back up and running to get people back to work and supporting the NSW economy."

"Construction workers are doing what they need to get the industry operating again."

"People in Parramatta are in lock down."

"It is a low act to move on Willow Grove right now."

"The Premier needs to tell her team to not betray the Parramatta community under cover of covid and to cease preparations to demolish this irreplaceable historical asset."

"Gladys Berejiklian needs to listen to the local community and save Willow Grove."
