Artists looking to showcase their talents are encouraged to take part in the Community Mural project as part of the upcoming Beyond The Dust Festival.

Five local artists are being sought to create an original mural on a 1.2m x 1.8m landscape panel with the theme 'Beyond The Dust'.

The panels to be showcased in Town Square during the Festival on October 17, and works can be created by individual artists or as a collaboration.

Council's Community Development Coordinator, Rachel Merton, said the project would offer a unique opportunity for artists.

"It's a great chance for established artists to make a contribution to this community event, or for new artists to get some great exposure in a very busy setting," said Ms Merton.

"We're looking for designs that celebrate our city, our story, and our community.

"it also doesn't necessarily have to be traditional art - we're open to all sorts of ideas and possibilities, so if anyone has an original idea on how to decorate one of the panels we'd love to chat."
