A Toukley grandmother has received the birthday surprise of a lifetime after unwrapping a $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its win from a ticket gifted by her partner.
The Central Coast resident's $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Newspower Toukley, Shop 1, 30 Canton Beach Road, Toukley.
Despite receiving a call from our Head Office to process her prize claim, the thrilled woman was still coming to terms with her windfall days later.
"I can't comprehend this! It's life-changing for me," she exclaimed.
"I never usually win anything, but my darling partner gave me some Instant Scratch-Its tickets for my birthday, and one of them revealed the top prize! I burst into tears straight away!
"I was with my daughter and granddaughter when I scratched the top prize, and my granddaughter turned to me and said, 'Nan! You've won the big bucks!'. They were both absolutely thrilled.
"We went to Newspower Toukley straight away and told them the great news.
"My partner said to one of the team members, 'I have a bone to pick with you! You know all those tickets I bought my lady? Well, we've finally had a top prize win!'.
"He said, 'It was you that won?! I'm so happy to know it was you guys!'.
"One of the other team members had tears running down her face and gave us a big hug. It was very special."
With $100,000 soon to land in her bank account, the generous New South Wales woman had already started thinking about how she would use her prize.
"I'd love to help my daughter and make her debt-free. We haven't had an easy life, so this will help us immensely," she shared.
"I'd also like to gift some to my partner. I've already told him, but he said, 'No, that's your prize! I gifted you the ticket!' I just can't do that - I'm not that type of person.
"We'll celebrate once the money is in our bank account. Thank you so much!"
Newspower Toukley owner Harman Fingh said he was thrilled to have sold his first top prize-winning entry.
"It's very exciting! This is the first major winning entry we've sold, and it couldn't have gone to a more deserving winner. We're also pleased to know it's one of our regulars," he shared.
"One of my staff members mentioned her partner had picked up a selection of $5 Instant Scratch-Its, and when he saw them come in again, he said, 'I knew it was a winner!'.
"Only two weeks ago, we sold a division two winning entry in Oz Lotto, and three weeks ago, we sold a second prize in Lucky Lotteries. They do say good things come in threes!
"Congratulations to the winner and good luck to her! Now she can go shopping!"
