Blacktown Council helps businesses bounce back from Covid

Blacktown City Council in partnership with NRMA Insurance will host a series of workshops to help local businesses and community organisations bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The popular 'Business Success Program' will return in 2022 and feature a series of 12 business education workshops focusing on the theme of 'business resilience'.

Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM said Council was determined to support Blacktown City's 26,000 businesses as they emerged from two years of lockdowns and restrictions.

"The past two years have greatly affected businesses across Blacktown City, with many forced to close down for long periods or significantly change the way they do business," Mayor Bleasdale said.

"Council is delighted to bring back the Business Success Program for a third year to support businesses navigate the new world of business post-COVID.

"I'm confident the insights they will gain from this program will help them take advantage of the great opportunities 2022 has to offer and help us bounce back our City's $22 billion economy."

The program will include workshops for small business owners, managers and employees on common business concerns, including: better managing cash flow, marketing on a tight budget, harnessing the power of social media, boosting profits, and attracting and retaining great staff in a highly-competitive environment.

Workshops are in-person and hands-on, with business entrepreneurs especially encouraged to attend for tips on how to get their new business venture off the ground.

Small business owner Ashween Lakhan, of The Car Care Studio, said the 2021 program had had great benefits for his business.

"It's not until you attend the workshops that you really appreciate their value, Mr Lakhan said.

"As a business owner, you have to think carefully about how you invest your time. The Business Success Program workshops turned out to be more practical and helpful than I could have ever imagined."

The Business Success Program will be launched online in a New Business Welcome webinar on 16 February, from 11am-12pm.

The free event will feature a welcome address from the Mayor, with representatives of Service NSW, Greater Blacktown Business Chamber and Blacktown City Council, to outline support options available to businesses in the Blacktown area. To book, visit https://bit.ly/3LapTsE
