An investigation is underway after a body was found following a house fire in the state's west overnight.
Just after 9.40pm yesterday (Saturday 16 May 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Palazzis Road, Ooma, approximately 23km south of Forbes, following reports of a house fire.
Officers attached to Central West Police District attended the scene and located a house well alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended the scene extinguished the blaze; however, the house was destroyed.
When the home was searched, a body of a man was found inside the house.
He is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene has been established, and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
