Body found during search for missing woman at Evans Head

Police searching for a woman missing from the Far North Coast have located a body.

Officers from Richmond Police District had been searching for a 49-year-old woman, who was last seen leaving her home at Evans Head at 4.15pm on Sunday 3 May 2020.

A large-scale multi-agency search was conducted around the Evans Head region, with assistance from officers from Richmond PD, Police Rescue, OSG, PolAir, SES volunteers, Richmond Valley Council rangers, and NSW Surf Life Saving.

About 10.30am today (Saturday 9 May 2020), during a further search of bushland at Bundjalung National Park police located a body.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing woman.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
