An investigation is underway after body of a man was found on the road in the state's north.
About 7.15pm today (Sunday 10 August 2025), emergency services were called to M1 Pacific Motorway, near Billinudgel, following reports of multiple cars crashed into an unoccupied motorcycle.
On arrival, officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District were told three cars have crashed into the motorcycle before a member of public have located a body of the alleged male rider nearby.
The body is yet to be formally identified.
Two drivers were taken to Byron Bay hospital for a mandatory testing.
Another driver was taken to Tweed Valley Hospital for a mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established and officers attached to Crash Investigation Unit were called to commence an investigation into the incident.
All vehicles were seized to be forensically examined.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
