Body located in search for missing man in Kurnell

Police searching for a missing angler at Kurnell have located the body of a man this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 1.10pm today, police were called to Cape Solander, following reports a man aged in his 50s was swept into the ocean while fishing off rocks.

A search involving officers from Miranda Local Area Command, Surf Life Saving and Marine Area Command commenced.

About 4.30pm, police located the body of a man in the water near Cape Solander.

While there has been no formal identification, the body is believed to be that of the missing man.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
