A body has been located this morning during a search for a woman missing from the Newcastle area.
The 68-year-old woman was last seen in the Newcastle area in early May 2025.
When she could not be located or contacted, officers from Newcastle City Police District were notified on Friday 9 May 2025 and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.
As part of the investigation, Newcastle City Police and the NSW SES commenced a search of the Martins Creek, Birmingham Gardens and Jesmond areas in May and July 2025; however, she was not located.
About 9am today (Thursday 7 August 2025), police located the body of a woman during a search of a property at Birmingham Gardens.
While yet to be formally identified, the body is believed to be that of the missing woman.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
